FERRY-Serenity---Rak-3-editAuckland is a harbour city and ferries have been a part of its fabric for over 150 years. From the ever-popular Devonport and Waiheke Island ferries, to the more recent addition of Hobsonville Point ferries play a key role in connection communities.

Ferries offer a direct and less stressful way to travel for thousands of commuters each day.  They also provide a harbour experience for locals and visitors alike to get out and explore Auckland - providing an opportunity to admire views of the city, and an up-close view of the Harbour Bridge and coastline.

So, whether you are looking for a quicker and less stressful way to travel to the city, want to sit back and enjoy the beauty of the harbour, or are heading out to explore Auckland’s seaside spots around Auckland, ferries are for you.

Ferry services are also part of AT Metro’s integrated fare system. This means you can transfer between AT bus, train and ferry and pay just one fare for your entire journey with your AT HOP card.

Buy before your board

You need to buy a ticket before you board AT ferry services from ticket machines or tag on with your AT HOP card. Learn more on the Ticket information page.

Using AT HOP and paper tickets will provide you with a consistent experience across all services and minimise the need for cash transactions.

Ticket machines are located at ferry terminals across the network, and most machines accept cash, credit card (Visa or Mastercard) or Eftpos.

There is currently no ticket machine at Te Onewa Northcote Point. If you are travelling to and from Te Onewa Northcote Point, you will need to purchase a paper ticket when you depart or arrive at the Downtown Ferry Terminal.
